About Mel
I help small service based businesses create stunning websites that reflect their unique stories.

I would describe myself as a philonoist, this drives me to always want to learn about the world and especially about the humans in it. I am intensely interested in the human mind, how and why we do things and what behaviours it leads to. This also applies to websites, how we use them to convey stories, words and imagery.
I didn’t grow up wanting to be a web developer but I did look at what my parents did as a job and saw there was no joy, from that moment on I set out to find a job I would love. At school I found I was good at algebra, (when many others hated it) but I always heard and thought there was no job in it. I went to university to learn Media studies (and become a camera operative or someone on set) during the first year we were tasked with creating a website for our portfolio and I decided to do it the hard way and code it. It was not good, but the joy I felt from writing code and seeing it appear on the laptop made me switch my degree to digital media development (which would let me code!).
From that moment on I created games, websites and web apps and built my career around it. I met some fantastic creative designers along the way who helped me learn how to draw, how to lay things out and gave me the confidence that if I practiced enough I would be able to design as well as code.
It wasn’t all plain sailing though, after uni I got my first job in London (although I said I’d never work in London because to me it’s one of the most stressful places in the world). I had intense imposter syndrome and very little feedback to know if I was doing well or not led me to having my first breakdown. I lost 4 stone in around 6 months due to not eating as I was convinced food was the reason I felt horrible.
After sometime I was convinced to get help with a therapist and it remains till this day the best money I ever spent. I was in full time therapy for around a year and now dip in and out. This is one of the reasons I aim to help therapist, coaches and speakers because I have seen first hand how these people can change others lives.
I still really enjoy a code challenge, designing new websites and templates and even teaching others how to do it. If you are someone who helps others, a creative or just someone who is cool as f*ck and you need some website work done big or small please get in touch with me.

What I care about
I want to build you a website that truly works for you — one you feel confident using and updating yourself. I have a real passion for teaching, and there’s nothing better than seeing that “aha!” moment when someone gets it for the first time.
Your website is a living thing — it grows, changes, and can always be improved. I believe part of my job is to help you feel comfortable with technology and understand how to make your site evolve with you.
Freedom is my biggest value. I care deeply about helping others experience more of it — starting by taking away the stress and overwhelm of building a website on your own.
